Who should come?
This training is designed for new and less experienced councillors; it will be of help to new clerks too. More experienced councillors may find it useful as a refresher
What does it cover?
- What is a good parish council and how to be one
- The roles and responsibilities of the councillor, clerk and chairman
- The law – powers and duties
- Procedures – meetings, agendas, minutes, Code of Conduct, Standing Orders
- Being effective and lawful, how does your council measure up?
There will be time for questions and networking
The evening will be run by Mary Harris, clerk to Bracknell Town Council and Christine Lalley, CEO of Berkshire Association of Local Councils
Registration and refreshments are available from 6.00pm for a prompt start at 6.30pm.
Please note the minimum number of participants is 20, if sufficient bookings are not received by Monday 6th September 2010 the event will have to be postponed.
