Welcome to Berkshire Association of Local Councils
BALC is one of 38 county associations in England constituting the National Association of Local Councils (NALC). It is administered by an Executive Committee which:
- provides for the ‘conduct, administration, management and control of the affairs of the Association’.
- it is made up of representatives from the five district associations in the county
- elects one representative to serve on NALC’s council and appoints two other members to attend the NALC AGM
- is serviced by a secretariat
The secretariat provides the following services:
- administration for the membership
- dealing with correspondence and other administrative measures
- dissemination of information
- a regular newsletter, the ‘Communicator’
- other information such as legislation and consultation documents relevant to the work of town and parish councils
- responding to individual enquiries from member councils
- liaison with NALC when necessary
- drafting responses to consultation documents and lobbying other authorities
- providing training for councillors and clerks

THIS IS NOW FULLY BOOKED An evening training and update on finance for town and parish councillors run by Peter Lacey, Nalc financial expert and Somerset County Officer.
Venue: Wokingham Town Hall and Newbury Rugby Club 9.30am - 1.15pm
Two events run by Bershire CPRE and BALC to encourage councils and communities to become involved in planning.
