An evening training session for new councillors

The training is aimed at new and inexperienced councillors it covers the role, duties and responsibilities of the clerk, the councillor and the chairman. The relationship between the members of the team and the council as an employer.

It will also cover the council as a corporate body. What happens if you act beyond your powers, procedures, agendas, minutes and meetings, Code of Conduct, Standing Orders and Freedom of Information.

We will also cover what it means to be an effective council, how does your council measure up on procedures, financial management, budgeting, financial management, community engagement etc. Are you efficient, successful, useful, valuable and lawful?
There will be time for questions and networking with other councillors
