250 New Fruit Trees for Wokingham Borough
During November 2011, 250 fruit trees were planted at four sites in Wokingham Borough, funded by the Big Lottery’s Local Foods programme. Volunteers from Swallowfield, Wargrave, Twyford and Dinton Pastures Country Park gave their time to plant the trees, many of which are varieties traditionally grown or developed in the local area. A further 50 trees will be planted at another site later in 2012.
Now that the trees are in the ground, the next phase of the project is in development. is in development. Notice boards will be commissioned for each orchard site, a publication will be produced and a comprehensive set of resources will be made available on a website dedicated to the project.
