Vicky came to Graft in July 2009. Vicky has depression and was working for a care agency/ She was having difficulties with her employer and this had triggered her condition. Vicky wanted support to find alternative employment.
Vicky enrolled onto Graft's STEPS programme, funded by the ESF Community Grant fund. The programme included confidence and employment preparation training, practice interviews with real employers, and one to one support sessions to job search and complete job applications.
During the 10-week programme, Vicky secured employment with another care agency but this was later withdrawn as her references did not come through in time. Vicky continued to receive support, she secured some voluntary work to expand her experience.
Vicky has now started working full-time as a Support Worker. She said, "If it wasn't for Graft, I would not be working in the care industry now".
