Can I bring someone along to the interview?
Yes, you can bring along your support worker, family member or friend if this helps you.
What should I bring with me to my first appointment?
Please bring some photo ID e.g passport or driving licence and proof of your address e.g a recent utility bill or benefit letter. If you have one, please also bring a copy of your CV.
What kind of support can Graft offer me?
Graft can offer one-to-one support to help you into employment or training. We can help with job searching, writing applications and CVs, interview preparation and ifnecessary, in work support. We will produce an action plan with you on your first visit and helpyou to work through it. We will offer as much support as possible but your action plan isyour responsibility. We can also provide training including employment skills, confidence building and interviewworkshops.
I have a complaint, what can I do?
Graft has a complaints procedure. All clients are issued with a Comments, Suggestion and Complaint form at their registration interview. Please contact us if you would like another copy of the form. Every complaint will be dealt with fairly and inconfidence, in accordance with our complaints policy, a copy of which is available on our policy page or by asking a member of staff.
How much is your service?
Our service is completely free to individuals.
I know someone who is struggling due to their circumstances. Can I get advice on their behalf?
Yes, we give advice to anyone and/or can signpost where to get help. However, we will be able to offer a much better service if the person concerned can meet with us themselves. We will happy to make any adjustments to make the interview accessible to them and you will be welcome to stay for the interview with your friend’s consent.
Is there an age limit for people who want to register?
No, there is no upper age limit but as we are an employment support service, we can only support people of working age. We therefore cannot currently support people under the age of 16. Any enquiries from someone under 16 would be referred to Connexions.
Do you only support people with physical or mental health disabilities?
No, we support anyone who is disadvantaged in society, for example; Ex-offenders, ethnic minorities, people suffering from depression, Homeless, single parents, over 50’s and carers.
Can I just drop in or do I have to make an appointment?
Although we will try to accommodate anyone coming in to Graft without an appointment, this is not always possible and an appointment as soon as possible will be offered. Alternatively, an appointment can be made via phone or email. This is to ensure that our clients receive the time and support on an individual basis and in a private setting.
We do have a Job Club on a Wednesday morning between 9-12 and you are free to drop in without making an appointment.
Is Graft accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes, Graft is located on the first floor of the MAPP Community Centre, 22-24 Mount Pleasant, Reading, RG1 2TD and a lift is available.
