LawWorks
LawWorks is a small independent charity which matches volunteer lawyers with opportunities to use their skills for the public good (pro bono). The Choices project is designed to match unemployed lawyers with pro bono activities. We have had a phenomenal response from lawyers, with around 450 members joining since the project was launched in July 2009. This number keeps growing on a daily basis! The solicitor members are now looking for opportunities to partake in pro bono work.
Another free legal advice scheme available, which is staffed by qualified lawyers - Initial Electronic Advice is an automated, web-based system, which allows not for profit organisations and advice agencies to submit a short legal query and have this answered by a lawyer via email, completely free of charge.
The main legal areas we cover are: advertising, banking, building and construction, charity, clinical negligence, commercial, company, competition, construction, consumer, consumer credit, contract, corporate, crime, debt, education, employment, energy, environment, EU, family, health and safety, housing, immigration, insolvency, insurance, intellectual property, IT, landlord and tenant, mental health, mortgages, data protection, finance, insurance, pensions, personal injury, planning, property, public law, small claims, tax, telecoms, trust, welfare, wills and probate.
