How can The Community Council for Berkshire's (CCB) Community Planning Development Worker support your community planning group?
Initially CCB's Community Planning Development Worker will come and visit any group in the community who is interested to learn how the community planning process works e.g. parish council, residents association etc.
Specialist help can be given in:
- Getting started
- Designing a successful launch event
- Recruiting volunteers
- Setting up a steering group
- Designing a project plan and obtain funding.
- Consultation techniques
- Ways to get everyone in your community involved.
- Making the links with the local authority.
- Making contact with agencies and community groups
- Identifying action points and designing action plans
- Identifying funding sources
- Making projects happen!
- Monitoring and review
CCB can provide a wealth of guidance on how to produce a parish plan plus a special toolkit to help you talk and listen to young people in your community. The toolkits are full of handy hints and resources, which you can adapt to suit your own needs.
CCB’s Community Planning Development Worker can link you with organisations that can help you develop your consultations and research through the community support network of voluntary and community organisations.
An annual conference is organised for Community Planning groups in February or March each year. Regular Meet the Expert Evenings are organised for Community Planning groups to share their experiences and to meet different services within West Berkshire Council.Quarterly Parish Plan Surgeries are arranged so that Community Planning groups can talk individually to key officers who may be able to help develop their consultation and action plans .
Greenham Common Trust provides help in kind with:

Graphic design of final document and website design
To maintain contact with communities a twice yearly newsletter is produced to share good practice and information plus a blog is in place on www.actionforall.org.uk/com-plan
through which groups can communicate.
