"Bring the Rec to life by broadening youth activity in the village and improving the community's leisure facilities"

These were  key actions in Streatley's Parish Plan which was published in 2006 and so when The Friends of Streatley Recreation Ground opened their new multi-sport facility recently there was great celebration. The installation will provide the opportunity for everyone in and around Streatley to come and practice basketball, hocky, football and cricket.

The success of this project was due to the many people who helped raise the £30,000 needed, Grants were obtained from Goring Gap News, The Hairy Legs Challenge, The Vibrants Villages Fund which is jointly funded by Greenham Common Trust and West Berkshire Council, CCB's Rural Access to Services Programme, the North Wessex Downs AONB Leader Fund and Streatley Parish Council.

Susan Carter Chair of the Friends of Streatley Recreation Ground writes, "this is not the end, the next idea being considered is a "trim trail" to provide an extra dimension to the cycle and jogging track."

Well done Streatley!
