Community Youth Project awarded grant
Scott Milligan is 16 and lives in Greenham, he wants to find a way to make a real difference to his local community. He attends the Community Youth Project and with the support of his youth worker Jenny McIntyre visited Greenham Parish Council in July to discuss what he and his friends could do.

The Parish Council were very encouraging and asked Scott to help them think about the future of the Diamond Portacabin and neighbouring open space in Pigeons Farm. The first joint project will be to look at a possible fitness trail.
Scott is the first young person to be awarded a Speak Out Grant under the Empowering Young Citizens Programme that CCB is co-ordinating on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government through the South East Regional Empowerment Partnership. A grant of £498.97 was awarded to Scott to fund the purchase of a lap top and IT equipment which can be used by both the Diamond Youth Club and the Family 2 young parents group that meets weekly at the Diamond Portacabin.
4 further grants will be awarded to young people working with their local Town or Parish Councils before the end of the year . The young people will then be asked to contribute to a workshop on empowering young citizens at the annual Community Planning Conferance in the Spring.
