Wolves Aid
Wolves Aid gives funding to organisations that support the positive development of community life through encouraging social inclusion amongst the disadvantaged and disabled as well as promoting family life and the positive development of children. This includes physical and learning disability, physical and mental health and social challenge and deprivation.
We offer:
- ‘One-off’ awards for capital projects i.e equipment and refurbishment
- Core funding
- Multi-year awards i.e running costs or salaries
We cover Wolverhampton, Telford, some of Dudley and Walsall, Bridgnorth, Cannock and Lichfield.
We ask if the groups can call 01902 828366 to enquire about funding and an application form. There is no deadline and no minimum or maximum they can request.
Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation
The Bernard Sunley Foundation provides grant funding in support of charitable projects that aim to improve the quality of life for the young, deprived, disadvantaged, disabled and elderly in the UK.
Funding is for beneficiaries belong to a wide cross section of the community and include: education, arts, religion, community, children and youth, elderly, health, social welfare, environment, animal welfare, amateur sport, emergency and armed services, and overseas.
The Foundation publishes very brief guidelines for applicants. There is no application form.
Write to the Director giving:
details of your charity and its objectives,
the need and purpose of your project
how much it will cost
the size of grant requested
how much has already been raised and from whom, and
how you plan to raise the shortfall.
Include annual report and accounts and any other documentation you feel will help to support your appeal.
Most grants will be for less than £10,000.

Hilton in the Community
The Foundation aims to support a range of causes helping young people, with a particular focus on these areas:
- disabled children
- children in hospital
- homelessness
- life-limited childre in hospices

The Prince's Countryside Fund Status: Open to applications

Description
The Fund has been set up to help rural areas in the United Kingdom to become more sustainable. The focus areas for the Fund are: projects to improve the sustainability of British farming in areas of deprivation; projects to improve the sustainability of rural communities; and projects to reconnect people with the countryside.

Value Notes
Applications for capital, project and resource funding will be considered.
The total amount of funding available in each application round will vary. Minimum and maximum levels of funding for each funding tranche will be specified in the application documentation.
The total amount of funding available in this round of funding is up to £250,000. The maximum level of funding for individual projects is £50,000. There is no minimum.
Requests for funding up to a maximum of three years will be considered, although extensions will be considered based on results and the current priorities of the Fund.
Funding will be made by means of a single payment except in the case of more substantial grants which may be made in a number of instalments.

Heritage Lottery Fund - Young Roots (3,000-25,000)
To receive a Young Roots grant, your project must relate to the varied heritage of the UK and to provide;
• New opportunities for a wider range of young people aged 13 to 25 to learn about their own and others’ heritage
• Allow young people to lead and take part in creative and engaging activities
• Develop partnerships between youth organisations and heritage organisations
• Create opportunities to celebrate young people’s achievements in the project and share their learning with the wider community.
Your project must also create new opportunities for young people to either; volunteer in heritage or gain skills in identifying, recording, interpreting or caring for heritage.
Young Roots is a rolling programme and there are no deadlines for applications. You will receive a decision on your application within 10 weeks from them receiving your fully filled-in application.

Heritage Lottery Fund - Your Heritage (£3,000 to £50,000)
The Your Heritage programme offers grants between £3000 and £50,000 inclusive for projects that relate to the local, regional or national heritage of the UK. They welcome applications that help people to learn about, look after and celebrate heritage in a fun and enjoyable way.
They have three aims which relate to learning, conservation and participation.
To receive a grant your project must help people to learn about their own and other people’s heritage. Your project must also do either or both of the following: conserve the UK’s diverse heritage for present and future generations to experience and enjoy, help more people, and a wider range of people to take an active part in and make decisions about heritage.
Your Heritage is a rolling programme and there are no deadlines for applications. You will receive a decision on your application within 10 weeks of them receiving your fully filled-in application. You should complete the pre-application enquiry form and full application online.

Richmond Civic Trust
Grants are awarded annually to projects within the London borough of Richmond Upon Thames that:
- Seek to achieve improvements to the environment in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
- Seek to achieve improvements in the physical character of the Borough of Richmond upon Thames to include the provision of additional facilities for the benefit of the community in the Borough
- Seek through improvements to the environment and to the physical character of the Borough to bring about an increase in the enjoyment, living standards and general well being of local communities.
Grants are currently awarded in March and September. Amounts of between £500-£10,000 may be applied for. The majority of grants are likely be in the £1500-£2500 range although the Trustees are keen to identify opportunities to fund larger projects of local significance for which a maximum grant of up to £10,000 could be awarded.
The next closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 25th February 2011. Applications must be received in our office by noon on the closing date.

Kelly Family Charitable Trust
The Kelly Family Charitable Trust is a grant giving body that was founded in 2004 by members of the Kelly family.
The Trust is interested in funding charities whose activities involve the whole family in initiatives that seek to tackle problematical issues that face one or more of its members, and whose aims include the strengthening of family bonds by helping all elements of the family unit to grow together and support each other.
Children In Need
Children in Need grant programmes include small grants (up to £10,000 a year for up to three years); main grants (over £10,000); Fun and friendship (for organisations working with disabled young people aged 12-18).

The Equitable Charitable Trust
The Trust is an education charity. It makes grants of around £1 million each year towards projects for children and young people under the age of 25 who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or disabled.
Grants can be made for projects throughout the UK. Overseas projects are also funded, but only through UK registered charities. Organisations based outside of the UK are not eligible to apply.

Building/Retrofit Adaptation Contest
The Technology Strategy Board has announced £5 million for innovative building and retrofit projects that incorporate climate risk/opportunities assessments and adaptive responses. Successful candidates will win up to £100,000 for additional design work on current building projects. More information about the contest can be found by clicking here.
Hidden Histories in South East England
At HLF, we are keen to support projects focusing on stories that have been lost forgotten or untold, and as such, 'Hidden Histories' is a priority theme for the South East England team.
In particular, we would like to receive applications from first-time applicants and community groups. We are therefore encouraging groups to apply for grants between £3,000 and £10,000, with the expectation that applications will contain less detail than is required for larger grants.

A partnership opportunity with the Sustainable Funding Project at NCVO
Over the past decade, the Sustainable Funding Project (SFP) has worked with infrastructure across England to support frontline voluntary and community sector organisations (VCOs) to explore a more sustainable approach to funding.

New funding for volunteering
New funding for volunteering as sport revealed as number one choice
Budding sports volunteers will soon get more opportunities to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the sports they love - thanks to £93,000 of new Exchequer funding from Sport England.
Sport England is investing the funding in Volunteering England, our national partner for driving up volunteering in sport.

Community Wildlife Programme
Community Wildlife will fund projects that bring local people together to discover, enjoy or protect the wildlife in their local area.
The programme will fund between £300 and £10,000 for projects that:
- improve rural or urban environments for people to enjoy, for example by:
- protecting wildlife habitats
- creating a nature trail, woodland walk or wildlife garden for people to enjoy
- improving natural community spaces, such as rivers, ponds and woodlands.

GUINNESS BRING IT TO LIFE AWARDS
The Guinness Bring It To Life Awards, in association with UnLtd and Rathbone, will work with people aged 25 – 35 who have a brilliant urban regeneration idea that will make a difference to their local community. People will receive a Guinness Bring It To Life Award through UnLtd and will have access to funding, training and volunteer support from Rathbone and Diageo Great Britain to bring their social ventures to life. The Guinness Bring it to Life Awards honour Arthur Guinness’ commitment to supporting local communities.

Community Spaces Open Grants Programme
Community Spaces is a £50 million open grants programme that is managed by Groundwork UK’s Open Grants Department.
The programme helps community groups in England create or improve green, open spaces to enhance people’s quality of life.
Community Spaces is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Grants start at £10,000.

Village CORE Programme
The Village CORE Programme is a dedicated support programme for communities looking to set up and run a community-owned rural shop.
It provides advisory support along with a £40,000 funding package comprised of a £20,000 grant matched with a £20,000 loan which is also matched by the equivalent community contributions.
This programme, which will have supported over 50 new community-owned rural shops by the end of 2009, has recently been renewed for a further three years.

Music Grants for Older People
Concertina makes grants to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly. This not only brightens up their lives, but also provides a therapeutic benefit to their health and well-being.
Concertina is keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding. Since its inception in 2004, it has made grants to a wide range of charitable organisations nationwide in England and Wales. These include funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents.

The Wates Foundation
Applications can be submitted at any time, but the Trustees usually meet to consider applications in June, October and March.
The Wates Foundation is open to applications from registered charities in the Counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Sussex. The Foundation aims to alleviate distress and improve the quality of life through its five main programme areas, one of which is “Community health”. Reaching Communities programme changes
The changes to the Reaching Communities programme are now ‘live’. Groups applying for up to £40,000 a year will now benefit from a simpler application form and faster decision times. Also all applicants will get a better steer earlier on in the application process of the likelihood of being funded. O2 Grants for Young People to improve their community or address a social problem
O2, the mobile phone company have launched a grants scheme to help young people improve their community or address a social problem.
The grants should be of interest to CLP groups proposing actions that will benefit and involve young people.
Grants of up to £2,500 are available to winning projects, in addittion to mentoring support and other O2 paraphernalia.

Support Your School Scheme
Support Your School - a new fundraising scheme led by Environmental Business Products (EBP) which aims to raise £5m for UK schools through the collection of empty inkjet cartridges and unwanted mobile phones for re-use.
To date 80 British charities (including the Prince’s Trust, British Heart Foundation and Tommy’s – the Baby Charity) have benefitted from EBP’s inkjet cartridge and mobile phone collection and recycling scheme, with £4m raised in total. Following this success, they have expanded the scheme to schools, which will receive £1 per inkjet cartridge, which are sent for cleaning, refilling and redistribution, and £3 per mobile phone, which are sent for reuse in developing countries.

Santander Foundation relaunches with £3m in funding
Santander has relaunched its charitable foundation, with over £3 million of funds available for UK charities in 2010. Formerly the Abbey Charitable Trust, the foundation combines the charitable donations previously made in the UK by Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley savings business.
The Santander Foundation will focus on funding charitable projects in line with Santander Group's global priorities of education and training, and financial capability.
The maximum donation for charities in the nine regions where Santander has a significant presence will rise 50% to £30,000, and one-off grants will rise 150% to £10,000 for charities in areas where there is a branch of Santander.

Feasability grants for community organisations
The Feasibility element of the Fund is for organisations that have ideas and need assistance with project development. The aim is to develop organisations to such a level that they can qualify for investment.
The Investment element of the Fund is for organisations that are ready to grow and expand their role within the community and are on the way towards financial self-reliance through the generation of unrestricted and/or earned income.
Loans are a fundamental part of this element and bringing organisations to the point where they are ready to take on a loan is the ultimate aim of the Fund.

Nationwide Foundation Small Grants Programme
The Nationwide Foundation has expanded its Small Grants Programme criteria for charities working with older people. The previous age restrictions have now been removed, and work can benefit any older person to improve their housing needs or address financial exclusion. New funding programme from Big Lottery
The Big Lottery Fund has announced a new funding programme that will allow voluntary organisations to apply for grants of up to £40,000 a year until 2015. The fund is a new strand of the Reaching Communities programme and is designed to support charities that want shorter-term, smaller-scale grants than those available through the existing Reaching Communities scheme.

The Kent People's Trust
In 2000 a group of public and private organisations, led by Kent Police, recognised the need to help prevent crime before it started. They wanted local people to be able to help themselves so set up a trust to distribute funds to help people tackle the causes of crime in their communities. Since then, the Trust has donated over
£500,000 to local projects in Kent and Medway.
We work with a wide range of individuals and organisations providing everything from youth clubs to security advice for the elderly, graffiti cleanup to CCTV for women’s refuges, youth mentoring to drug rehabilitation schemes. These projects help prevent crime, and genuinely improve the safety and well being of local communities.

The Foyle Foundation
Is an independent grantmaking trust that distributes grants to UK charities. The Foundation does not support applications from individuals.
Since it became operational in November 2001, The Foundation has disbursed over £36.4M in grants (to the year ending June 2009).
Following a strategic review, the Foundation merged with its sister charity The Batty Charitable Trust in March 2009 and from July 2009 has revised its objectives. The Foundation now operates a Main Grants Scheme supporting charities whose core work covers Arts and Learning and a Small Grants Scheme covering small charities in all fields.

E.ON Sustainable Energy Fund
The E.ON Sustainable Energy Fund offers grants of up to £20,000 to community groups and not for profit organisations who wish to consider and implement sustainable energy projects in their buildings - from energy efficiency through to micro-generation.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation
Of interest to Organisations dealing with:
Rural Issues, Urban Deprivation, Elderly, Disabled People, Disadvantaged Communities, Young People, Drug/Alcohol Misues, Homelessness
The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation was formed out of a trust operated by the Council of Forte plc which inherited investments in the Granada Group. The Foundation was registered with the Charity Commissioners in 1997.
Its objects are such general charitable purposes as the Trustees in their discretion may from time to time determine. The Foundation currently distributes over £2 million each year. The average grant awarded by the Foundation is £5,000.
With effect from 1st July 2008, the Trustees have agreed new Guidelines for grants applications. If you have previously received a grant, please check the guidelines carefully to see if you are still eligible to apply. If you have applied recently to the Foundation, your application may still be valid but we advise you to contact us to discuss this if you have not already received a letter of acknowledgement.
The objects of the charity section is intended to help applicants understand the Trustees’ current priorities and to assess whether their projects fit into them. Application is by competitive process and the Trustees’ decisions will reflect their assessment of the relative merits of different applications and the overall balance of demand and the funds available.
In 2005/6, the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation awarded over 300 grants totalling £2.11 million to a multitude of different projects.

Tesco Charity Trust

The Trust was set up on 1 June 1987 to support both national and local community charities, and to add a 20% top up to staff fundraising. It is run by a board of trustees recommended by the main board of Tesco PLC.
How to make an application
The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000 to local projects that support children and their education and welfare, elderly people and adults and children with disabilities.
We have four rounds of funding each year, and applications should be made via our online application form.
Larger Grant Applications
The Tesco Charity Trust Trustees also consider grant applications at their tri-annual meetings. These grants range between £4,000 and £25,000 and are to support local, national or international projects in areas where we operate.
